_Pakistan’s IT Sector Faces Challenges and Opportunities

Islamabad,
Special report
Pakistan – The Pakistan IT sector is facing challenges and opportunities, as revealed in a recent meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet.

Social media platforms are considering opening virtual offices in Pakistan due to security concerns, while rising mobile phone costs are being criticized for hindering digitization efforts.

However, local mobile manufacturing is on the rise, with 37 companies producing 20 million units annually. Additionally, 56% of Pakistan’s population now has internet access.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has also announced that the country’s 5G auction is expected to take place in March.

Meanwhile, Telenor Pakistan and other telecom operators are facing scrutiny over rising mobile phone costs, which may impact their operations and customer base.

The government is working to address these challenges and promote the growth of the IT sector, which is critical for Pakistan’s economic development.
