A violent clash between two student groups, identified as Punjabi and Pakhtun students, erupted at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad late on September 28, 2024, resulting in over 25 injuries. The university administration has filed a complaint with the Secretariat Police Station against the students involved in the altercation.
According to the report filed by Lt. Col. Nadeem Abbas, English Campus Manager, the incident began around 10 p.m. when a security guard reported a fight near Hostel Number 5. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a student, Muzamil Marwat, had been severely beaten and sustained head injuries, allegedly by Punjabi students.

Following the attack, tensions escalated as both groups mobilized. A group of 70-80 Punjabi students gathered at Hostel Number 7, led by Punjab Council Chairman Rana Hasan. Meanwhile, around 300 Pakhtun students, led by Asad Turi and other members, assembled at the new cafeteria, armed with sticks and iron rods.
Asad Turi addressed the Pakhtun students before they stormed Hostel Number 7, leading to a violent confrontation that lasted for approximately 40 minutes.
The Secretariat Police Station has registered a case under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including those related to attempted murder, criminal intimidation, rioting, and unlawful assembly.
