Pakistan Demonstrates Strength and Unity on National Day, Says President Zardari

The nation is marking Pakistan Day with great enthusiasm, with a grand military parade at Aiwan-e-Sadr commemorating the historic Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940.

The celebrations commenced with a 31-gun salute in the capital, Islamabad, and 21-gun salutes across provincial headquarters. Special prayers were also offered at dawn for national progress and prosperity.

For this year’s observance, the Pakistan Day parade took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr rather than its usual venue, Shakarparian Parade Ground.

President Asif Ali Zardari presided over the ceremony as the chief guest, accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, top military officials, and other distinguished guests.

In his address, President Zardari emphasized the significance of “Unity, Faith, and Discipline” in tackling national challenges. He honored the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s creation and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to becoming a progressive welfare state rooted in justice, equality, and the rule of law.

Highlighting external security concerns, he cautioned against threats posed by India and militant groups. However, he reassured the nation that Pakistan’s armed forces and citizens stand firmly together to counter any adversarial schemes.

The president also underlined the importance of strengthening national defense, revitalizing economic sectors, and generating employment opportunities, particularly for the youth, who he described as Pakistan’s greatest strength.

Furthermore, he reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Kashmir and Palestine, urging the global community to support their right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his Pakistan Day message, reflected on the pivotal role of the Lahore Resolution in shaping South Asian history. He acknowledged the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in securing a sovereign state based on dignity, freedom, and self-respect.

The prime minister stressed that through the right policies, unwavering commitment, and national unity, Pakistan could achieve economic stability and global prominence.

As this year’s Pakistan Day coincides with Ramadan, he urged the nation to embrace the values of faith, sacrifice, and perseverance, which remain integral to Pakistan’s foundation.

Additionally, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Service Chiefs extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on this momentous occasion.
