Pakistan Linked to Spread of AI-Generated Hate Videos in UK Investigation

Pakistan’s name has surfaced in an investigation involving the spread of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated hate videos in the United Kingdom, raising concerns about misinformation, online manipulation, and the misuse of social media platforms for financial gain.

According to a report published by The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, fake and inflammatory videos created using artificial intelligence were circulated across social media platforms to attract large audiences and generate advertising revenue through Meta’s monetization system. The investigation revealed how misleading digital content can rapidly spread online and influence public opinion.

The report stated that several AI-generated videos targeted prominent British political figures, including Keir Starmer and Sadiq Khan. One of the fabricated videos reportedly received millions of views, triggering widespread concern in the United Kingdom over the increasing use of manipulated content and online hate campaigns.

Investigators found that a person based in Pakistan was allegedly involved in posting and distributing some of the videos online. According to the report, the individual admitted to earning monthly income through social media activity linked to the content. However, the person claimed that due to weak English language skills, he did not fully understand the nature and impact of the material being shared.

The individual reportedly stated that after realizing the issue, some of the controversial posts were deleted. Following identification by investigators, the related social media accounts were also reportedly suspended or removed from the platforms involved.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing challenges posed by AI-generated misinformation and digitally manipulated media. Experts warn that advanced artificial intelligence tools now make it easier than ever to create highly realistic fake videos, audio clips, and images capable of misleading viewers and spreading harmful narratives online.
