GE Lighting and IEC announce strategic partnership

Creation of a channel platform that will supply the electrical trade market across Pakistan with GE Lighting’s range of products, including LED lamps and LED Light Fixtures

Lahore, October – 2017The Imperial Electric Company (IEC), a premiere engineering company, and GE Lighting, today announced a strategic partnership aimed at creating a channel platform to identify and deliver the most cost effective and efficient GE Lighting capabilities across a wide range of sectors, including, home, retail, office and hospitality.

The strategic partnership with IEC underscores GE Lighting’s strategy to expand its footprint of comprehensive solutions in Pakistan by working with local partners with proven market competencies to create an effective distribution network to reach the end consumer.

The lighting industry has changed dramatically in the last few years, moving away from supplying product as a simple disposable commodity, to providing high-value, energy-saving solutions. Long-life LED technology makes GE solutions long-term investments; while lasting significantly longer than conventional lighting solutions, LED lighting solutions offer significant energy and maintenance savings that balance out the higher upfront cost. For this reason, LED lighting solutions are being widely adopted in retail, office, hospitality, roadway and outdoor lighting applications.

Tahir Rehman, Managing Director, The Imperial Electric Company, said, “GE Lighting brings an extensive range of solutions that complement our operations in the country. The company’s strength in LED lighting, which contributes significantly to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, is an ideal fit to our vision to be the sustainable lighting partner. We have a strong track-record in supporting and representing some of the world’s renowned manufacturers, and the partnership with GE Lighting will further strengthen our business relationship with this respected lighting brand.”

GE LED solutions save energy and are also lead and mercury free, which plays a key role in driving environmental sustainability. GE Lighting’s latest product ranges have the potential to contribute up to 50-70% percent in energy cost savings, including a long useful life of up to 50,000 hours and minimized maintenance.

Sarim Sheikh, President & CEO of GE Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan, added, “The distribution agreement with IEC brings us closer to our customers and enables us to offer comprehensive solutions, supported by efficient sales and installation. The agreement will enable our project clients to benefit from the domain industry experience of IEC too, thus enhancing all-round operational efficiency. Underscoring our focus on investing in local partnerships in the country, this strategic collaboration will further contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals in Pakistan.”

As per the agreement, the innovative lighting solutions launched by GE Lighting will be distributed and installed by IEC for commercial and industrial applications. GE Lighting will also extend advanced training and workshops on its lighting solutions to strengthen the skills of IEC’s team and in line with its commitment to knowledge sharing to support localization.

GE Lighting has a rich history in the region, having established long-standing business association with over 70 key partners over the several decades. GE’s lighting solutions are extensively deployed in the country, including in parts of the Lahore-Islamabad Highway, for their proven efficiency to reduce energy consumption and maintenance overheads while also supporting the government’s sustainable development goals.
