All of us aspire to be mentored by the leaders of the industry and work amongst bright minds that are driven by a vision to bring about social empowerment through innovation in technology. Telenor Microfinance Bank (TMB), the leading microfinance institution of Pakistan, recently brought an opportunity for young, dynamic, and highly motivated individuals from across Pakistan to join its team as Management Trainees and prepare to contribute significantly to the country’s ongoing fin-tech revolution. The ‘Future Leaders Program’ – as the management trainee program is called – is designed to create a digital ecosystem that explores, integrates, and sustains technology across Pakistan’s financial services landscape.

The ‘Future Leaders Program’ provides an unrivalled platform to fresh graduates to hone their skills while working in Telenor Microfinance Bank’s technology-centric environment which has a repute of enabling creation of breakthrough financial solutions that change lives for the better. The Bank’s conducive working environment is a powerful mix of supporting infrastructure and a continuously evolving HR culture, helping teams at Telenor Microfinance Bank to outperform their industry peers and create products and services that truly matter for society. The Management Trainees under the ‘Future Leaders’ Program’ are enjoying a chance to collaborate with these highly progressive and motivated teams to learn from the industry’s best and co-create amazing digital finance products.

Introduced for the first time in February 2019, the ‘Future Leaders Program’ is a much anticipated leap into a bigger, brighter future as it aims to actively contribute towards the business landscape in Pakistan with extensive recruitment from the top 9 universities in the country, including LUMS, IBA, CBM, LSE, GIK, and KSBL. The program attracted thousands of applications out of which only 23 Management Trainees were selected through a rigorous three-step screening process that included online scenario-based assessments, group discussion, and extensive panel interviews. Coming from cities and towns across the nation and bringing great diversity to the Bank’s offices in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, the chosen Management Trainees were free to carve their own path by choosing any one of the 11 divisions that matched their preferences and skills.

The Management Trainees’ journey has now begun with an exciting rotation planned out over 3 months, before they are moved to the core department for the next 3 months to optimize their experience. These 6 months of exposure to the central workings of the business are meant to prepare them for unparalleled success and their learnings will be evaluated at the end of this period which will determine their future role in the company. To make the platform stronger and Telenor Microfinance Bank’s working environment friendlier to the Management Trainees, a unique Buddy System has been introduced where a Buddy, or a TMB employee, is assigned to each Management Trainee to help the new recruits all though their training.

Telenor Microfinance Bank is one of Pakistan’s top employers in the fin-tech sector with over 3000 employees. Leading from the front in the microfinance sector, the Bank is working with a mission of reducing the financial services gaps through technology that can be accessed by all segments of the population, especially the underprivileged one. In its journey to a more financially included Pakistan, the Bank is continuously looking to build a team of high-performing individuals who can carry forward its mission and the ‘Future Leaders Program’ is a part of that effort.
