Injury Blow for Multan Sultans as Olly Stone Ruled Out of PSL 9

Multan Sultans have been dealt a significant blow in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season Nine as English speedster Olly Stone has been ruled out due to a groin injury. Stone sustained the injury during his first match against Islamabad United on February 20, where he had to leave the field without completing the remaining two balls of his fourth over.

The franchise has confirmed that they will be applying for a replacement for Olly Stone in due course. This setback comes at a time when Multan Sultans are leading the points table with three consecutive victories in PSL 9. Despite Stone’s absence, the team remains focused as they prepare to face Peshawar Zalmi on their home turf.

In their last match, under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, Multan Sultans showcased a convincing performance, defeating defending champions Lahore Qalandars. Rizwan played a crucial role, scoring 82 runs to anchor the innings, paving the way for a successful chase. The experienced finisher Iftikhar Ahmed’s explosive batting in the final over secured victory for Sultans with six balls to spare.

Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, has been facing challenges in the current PSL 2024 season. Despite a commendable performance from the captain, Zalmi has struggled to secure a victory. In their recent clash against Karachi Kings, they posted a modest total of 154 runs, proving insufficient against the formidable Kieron Pollard.

As Multan Sultans regroup without Olly Stone, their upcoming matches will test their resilience and depth in the bowling department. Fans will be eagerly watching how the team adapts to this injury setback and whether they can maintain their winning momentum in PSL 9.
