PSL 9: Bismah Maroof Advocates for Women’s Cricket Exhibition Matches Amidst PSL 9 Disappointment

In a candid expression of discontent, Bismah Maroof, a prominent figure in the Pakistan women’s cricket team, has raised concerns about the absence of exhibition matches for women cricketers during the ongoing Pakistan Super League PSL 9. Known for her proficiency as a middle-order batter, Bismah highlighted the significance of providing a platform akin to the PSL for women’s cricket.

Expressing disappointment during a media interaction, Bismah remarked, “There are no exhibition matches for women cricketers in PSL 9, which is disappointing.” She stressed the importance of such matches, citing their role in enhancing skills and fostering a learning environment by playing alongside foreign players.

Reflecting on past experiences, Bismah emphasized how playing with international cricketers positively impacted the team’s performance. “Playing with foreign players provides a great opportunity to learn, and sharing the dressing room also benefits. The skills improve, which is why our results improved after that,” she stated.

Despite the setback in PSL 9, Bismah turned her attention to the upcoming series against West Indies, emphasizing its crucial nature. “The series against the West Indies next month is very important. We will try to play according to the momentum created in the tour of New Zealand,” the 32-year-old cricketer explained.

As the PSL 9 enters its decisive phase, with intense competition leading to the eliminators, Bismah Maroof’s remarks shed light on the need for dedicated platforms for women’s cricket within major tournaments.

For cricket enthusiasts, the remaining PSL 9 matches promise exhilarating encounters, with the final scheduled to take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18. The tournament spans four cities – Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi – showcasing the best of Pakistan’s cricket talent.
