Rawalpindi PSL 9 Double Header Rain Concerns

The upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) double-header in Rawalpindi faces potential disruptions due to anticipated rain, raising concerns about the scheduled matches. Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators are set to take place at Pindi Cricket Stadium on March 2.

Weather Forecast: According to The Weather Channel, there is a 100% chance of rain during the day and a 70% chance at night in Rawalpindi on March 2. The possibility of heavy downpour adds uncertainty to the smooth conduct of the matches.

Meteorological Insights: Officials from the Met Office emphasized the likelihood of rain and thunderstorms, indicating that the spell might commence on Friday evening, with Saturday anticipated as the most affected day. The unpredictable weather conditions could pose challenges for the players and organizers.

Crowd Presence at Pindi Stadium: Pindi Cricket Stadium traditionally attracts a vibrant crowd, enhancing the festive atmosphere during international matches or PSL engagements. Approximately ten thousand temporary chairs have been installed at the stadium for the nine upcoming matches, ensuring an enthusiastic audience.

Pitch Conditions and PCB’s Directive: Historically known for high-scoring encounters, Pindi Stadium has witnessed notable innings, including Multan Sultans scoring 262 against Quetta Gladiators and Quetta scoring 253 against Multan. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has directed curators to shift away from the “flat pitches” reputation, aiming for a more balanced playing field that supports both bowlers and batsmen.
