_HIGH COURT ISSUES NOTICE IN FIA INQUIRY CASE_

The High Court
has issued a notice to the respondents in a case challenging the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) inquiry into the purchase of a house in Islamabad.

Muhammad Afnan Alam and his wife, Ms. Sara Rasul Bangash, have filed a petition (W.P. No. 2159 of 2024) challenging the FIA’s notice of attendance dated July 4, 2024. The notice requires them to produce documents related to the purchase of House No. 428-C, Sector C-14, Islamabad.

*FIR Details*

The FIA registered an FIR on January 15, 2024, under sections 420, 468, 471, and 109 PPC, and 5(2) PCA 1947, against:

– Patwari Abid, CDA
– Patwari Rashid Mehmood, CDA
– Patwari Muhammad Asif, CDA
– Aftab Saleem, AD (L&I)
– Sidra Anwar, former Director Land
– Afnan Alam, former Member Estate CDA
– Legal heirs of Akbar Ali s/o Khan Sahib Kamal-ul-Din

The FIR alleges that the accused fraudulently prepared fake reports and documents, leading to the illegal allotment of 62 plots in CDA Sector 1-15, Islamabad, causing a loss of approximately Rs. 1 billion.

*Court Orders Notice to Respondents*

The court has issued a notice to the respondents and has listed the case along with writ petition No. 417/2024 after summer vacation. Barrister Umair Majeed Malik appeared as counsel for the petitioners.
