Gujarat District Gears Up for Anti-Polio Campaign

Gujarat, Pakistan – Deputy Commissioner Safdar Hussain Wark visited an ongoing training session for polio workers in Gujarat district today, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming anti-polio campaign. Accompanied by CEO Health Dr. Zakir Ali Rana, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparedness of the polio teams and stressed the need for complete commitment to eradicating polio.

The campaign will run from October 28th to 30th, targeting over 514,982 children under the age of five with polio vaccines and vitamin A capsules. To ensure maximum reach, a comprehensive micro-plan has been put in place, deploying 5,156 personnel, including mobile teams, fixed teams, and transit point staff.
“The only way to prevent polio is through vaccination,” stated Deputy Commissioner Wark, urging parents to cooperate fully with the polio teams. He also assured the public that any negligence during the campaign would be met with strict action. To maintain accountability, the performance of the polio teams will be closely monitored throughout the campaign.

The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged that some areas might be difficult to access. In such cases, he encouraged parents to contact their nearest health department to ensure their children receive the necessary vaccination. This proactive approach underscores the district’s commitment to achieving full immunization coverage and protecting children from this debilitating disease.
