Man Arrested in Ghotki for Refusing Polio Vaccination Ghotki, Pakistan

A man has been arrested in Ghotki for refusing to vaccinate his children against polio. Assistant Commissioner Ubaro, Sohaib Elahi, stated that the individual repeatedly made unreasonable demands when polio vaccination teams arrived at his residence. He actively boycotted the polio campaign and prevented his children from receiving the life-saving drops.

The man is now in police custody. The Assistant Commissioner emphasized the severity of polio, describing it as an incurable and deadly disease, and stressed the vital importance of vaccination. He issued a strong warning, stating that anyone obstructing the polio campaign, whether in urban or rural areas, will face legal consequences. He reiterated that legal action will be taken against any parents who refuse to vaccinate their children.

Pakistan remains one of only two countries worldwide where polio is still endemic. The government has implemented nationwide polio campaigns to eradicate the disease.

However, these efforts are hampered by misinformation and misconceptions surrounding the vaccine, leading some parents to refuse vaccination for their children.

Health officials continue to stress that the polio vaccine is safe and effective, and the only way to prevent this debilitating disease, which can cause paralysis and even death. They urge all parents to vaccinate their children to protect them from this serious health threat.
