NAB Launches Inquiry into PTA’s Failure to Collect Dues from Telecom Companies_

Karachi, Zubair kasuri: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has launched an inquiry into the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) failure to collect outstanding dues amounting to billions of rupees from Wireless Local Loop (WLL) and Long Distance International (LDI) companies.

According to sources, the PTA’s negligence has resulted in significant financial losses to the national exchequer, prompting the NAB to take action. The bureau has issued a call-up notice, bearing number NABK20181004144116/IW-1/CO-A/NAB(K)/2024, directing the Director General of PTA, Mr. [Name], to appear before the Inquiry Officer, Mr. [Name], on July 15, 2024, at 11:00 am to provide evidence and clarify their position.

The NAB has also asked the PTA to bring all relevant records and documents related to the case, including:

– Details of outstanding dues from WLL and LDI companies
– Records of payments made by telecom companies
– Correspondence with telecom companies regarding dues
– Internal inquiries and reports related to the case

Failure to comply with the notice may lead to further action under the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), 1999, including arrest and prosecution.

This development comes as part of the NAB’s efforts to tackle corruption and ensure accountability in government institutions. The inquiry is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the PTA’s failure to collect dues and identify those responsible for the financial losses.
