BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER MEETS PUNJAB CM MARYAM NAWAZ SHARIF IN MURREE

Pakistan – British High Commissioner Jane Marie-Ette met with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Murree on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by Zoe Ware, Political Consul of the British High Commissioner Islamabad.

During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including education, healthcare, climate change, and increasing higher education opportunities for Punjab students in top British universities. The two sides agreed to benefit from mutual expertise to address climate change challenges.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif briefed the British High Commissioner on the KPI system for monitoring police and administration performance to improve governance quality. The ongoing initiatives for Digital Punjab were also discussed, with the Chief Minister inviting British institutions to invest in the Nawaz Sharif i-city project.

The British High Commissioner was also briefed on the solar panel project in Punjab, which aims to promote renewable energy in the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted Punjab’s entry into the digitalization era, promising that the province will soon become a hub for digital innovation.

The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and the UK, with a focus on cooperation in education, healthcare, and climate change.
