Kabul, Afghanistan News desk: Commitment to a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with Afghanistan was highlighted at a flag hoisting ceremony held at the Pakistani embassy in Kabul. The event, commemorating Pakistan’s Republic Day, underscored the intertwined economic interests of the two nations and the crucial role of Afghan stability in regional peace.
Ambassador Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and the Guest of Honour, stressed the importance of synergizing efforts to foster regional economic development. “Pakistan and Afghanistan’s economic interests are intrinsically interlinked. Peace and progress in Afghanistan is essential for regional stability,” he stated. He further emphasized Afghanistan’s significance as a key regional partner, advocating for enhanced bilateral trade and strengthened regional connectivity. “Both countries must work together to enhance bilateral trade and galvanize regional connectivity.”
Ambassador Khan also reiterated the significance of March 23rd, stating, “23rd March is the day of reiteration of our commitment to the prosperity and defence of Pakistan.”
Pakistan’s Head of Mission, Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, echoed these sentiments, calling for the honoring of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and a renewed pledge to build a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan. He also highlighted the necessity of bolstering resilience to overcome internal and external challenges.
“Ambassador Nizamani underscored the need of reinvigorating our resilience to overcome all internal and external challenges,” the embassy press release noted.
The ceremony also included the reading of messages from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, reinforcing the government’s dedication to its relationship with Afghanistan and its commitment to national prosperity. The event served as a platform to reaffirm Pakistan’s ongoing support for a stable and economically vibrant Afghanistan, crucial for regional peace and development.
