Zartaj Gul’s Name Removed from Passport Control List: Court Verdict

ustice Tariq Mahmoud Jhanguiri has issued a written verdict directing the removal of PTI leader Zartaj Gul’s name from the Passport Control List. The 5-page written verdict was issued in response to a petition filed by Zartaj Gul’s lawyer, stating that her client’s name was incorrectly added to the list.

According to the verdict, the Director General of Immigration and Passports had submitted a report stating that Zartaj Gul’s name was added to the list on May 16, following a letter from the Punjab Home Department. However, the court found that Zartaj Gul had already been granted bail in both cases and was not a fugitive or absconder.

The verdict stated that there was no justification for keeping Zartaj Gul’s name on the Passport Control List and directed the Director General of Immigration and Passports to remove her name from the list and submit a compliance report to the Additional Registrar within one week.

This decision is a significant victory for Zartaj Gul and a blow to the government’s efforts to restrict her travel.
