Okara Police Foil Major Drug Smuggling Operation: Seize Heroin Worth Millions, Arrest Suspects

In a decisive operation, Okara police have thwarted a large-scale drug trafficking attempt, seizing heroin valued at approximately 25 million PKR and arresting multiple suspects. The operation was led by DSP Basirpur Saeed Anwar, reinforcing the department’s commitment to the ‘Drug-Free Punjab’ initiative.

SHO Haveli Lakha, Ijaz Ahmed, spearheaded the intelligence-driven raid, where police intercepted a suspect, Ghulam Mustafa, on Hujra Road. Mustafa was reportedly transporting 5 kilograms of heroin, cleverly hidden inside school bags. In a related bust, another suspect, Muhammad Khan, was apprehended carrying an additional 5 kilograms of heroin.

What makes this case stand out is the discovery of sophisticated equipment found in Muhammad Khan’s possession. The police recovered a drone, LCD screen, locator, batteries, and a charger—suggesting the use of advanced technology in the drug trafficking operation. This technological component points to a more organized and potentially far-reaching smuggling network.

Both suspects are now facing charges under strict narcotics laws, with further investigations underway to uncover the full extent of their operation. The Okara police remain steadfast in their mission to dismantle drug networks and maintain a zero-tolerance stance toward drug-related crime. This successful operation highlights the department’s resolve to create a safer, drug-free community in Punjab.
