FBR Cracks Down on Non-Filers: Over 1.5 Lakh Mobile SIMs Blocked”

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken decisive action against non-filers, blocking over 1.5 lakh mobile SIMs in the past month. According to sources, more than 1.6 lakh non-filers have been identified, and their data has been shared with telecom companies. As a result, 50,000 filers have submitted their tax returns, and their SIMs have been restored.

The FBR has directed telecom companies to block the SIMs of non-filers, and a list of 5 lakh 6 thousand 671 non-filers has been prepared under the Income Tax General Order. The decision to gradually block the SIMs of these individuals was made to ensure compliance with tax laws.

This move is seen as a positive step towards increasing tax compliance and revenue generation. The FBR’s efforts have yielded fruitful results, with a significant number of non-filers registering and submitting their tax returns. The blocking of SIMs has also encouraged many to file their tax returns, leading to an increase in tax revenue.
